Learning Spaces
Nursery
In our nursery, every detail is thoughtfully designed to create a nurturing and supportive environment for your baby.
We focus on fostering early development through interactions and experiences that go beyond basic care. Our approach is designed to create a warm, engaging environment where every baby’s unique needs are met and they are fully supported to learn and grow.
We ensure your mornings are calm, stress-free and unrushed by providing everything your baby needs. The Akidamy provides nappies, formula, clothes, bedding, hats, sunscreen, water bottle and more.
Once at The Akidamy, your little one is supported by permanent educators who build strong, caring relationships with each child. Our cot room is carefully designed for restful sleep with safety and supervision at the forefront. Communication is gently supported through baby signing, helping our youngest learners express their needs. Our daily community walks offer our children a chance for exploration, fresh air and connection with the natural world around them.
The Rhythm of the Day
Welcome
The day begins with a warm welcome from our caring educators. We greet each child with a smile, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable and excited to start their day. With everything your child needs provided, there’s no need for a rushed morning.
Morning Tea
At around 8:30 am, the children sing and sign Wanjoo – a Nyoongar welcome song before enjoying a communal morning tea. This early meal helps settle and nourish them for the day ahead.
Community Walk
Each morning, the children go on a community walk. Safely in prams and hats, they enjoy the sun, fresh air and smiles from community members on their stroll.
Meal Times
Meal times in our nursery studios are personalised to match each baby’s home routine, whether it’s bottle feeding or solid meals, ensuring consistency and comfort for your child.
Sleep Times
Sleep times are a peaceful retreat where we follow your child’s home sleep schedule in our cosy cot room. We respect your preferences, creating a restful environment that compliments the comfort of home.
Outdoor Play
In our dedicated nursery playspace, little ones can move between indoor and outdoor areas, exploring and playing in a safe environment. Outdoor learning develops different skill sets and fosters curiosity.
Home Time
As the day draws to a close, we welcome parents into the studio to engage with our educators to hear all about their child’s day. This connection helps them move comfortably from The Akidamy back to their family and home.
Atelier
Children regularly visit our Atelierista Miss Erin in the art studio to engage in creative activities that encourage curiosity and self-expression.
Projects combine art, science and a treasure trove of materials to excite all the senses.
Italian Lessons
Ms Magarita is our guide to all things Italy! As our language specialist, her lessons teach little ones new words and phrases, enriching their language development.
Language learning is supported by using these phrases throughout the day with the whole team.
Yoga & Mindfulness
Children are invited to join in yoga and mindfulness sessions. These sessions promote physical wellness and emotional balance.
Core strength and flexibility are just some of the benefits of daily practice.
Occupational Therapy
Each week, an Occupational Therapist from Baby Steps Health Centre joins us to guide children through a school readiness program.
These sessions focus on developing their physical and cognitive skills, helping them gain confidence and prepare for the next exciting step in their learning.
Park Visits & Community Walks
All children enjoy regular visits to the local park and walks around our wider community, where they can explore nature and engage in active play.
Fresh air, a change of scenery and interaction with the community all provide social and emotional growth.
O-Soji
We are inspired by the O-Soji practices of Japan where children are encouraged to respect and clean their space by helping tidy up.
These methods encouage teamwork and responsibility both at School and home.
