Learning Spaces
Toddler
At The Akidamy’s toddler studios, every day is full of fun, learning and exploration. Our tailored toddler programs are crafted with a deep understanding of how they engage with the world through schematic play. This allows them to explore and discover in ways that resonate with their natural learning style.
Our small Toddler group sizes ensure your little one is given plenty of interaction and attention. The day is a blend of adventure and learning, as children move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments, immersing themselves in diverse experiences that stimulate their senses and imagination.
At The Akidamy, each studio has an early childhood teacher dedicated to tailoring a curriculum to support and celebrate the unique developmental journey of each child.
Italian language lessons enrich your child’s communication skills by introducing them to new sounds and words. Similarly, we weave sign language into our daily routines and toddler classes to help the children express their needs and emotions, helping them overcome the frustrations of not being understood.
On our community walks, toddlers are taken on neighbourhood strolls to engage with the wider world and enjoy the fresh air.
The Rhythm of the Day
Morning
Morning Tea
At around 8:30 am, the children enjoy a communal morning tea. This early meal helps settle and nourish them for the day ahead. Children are encouraged to serve their own meals to create autonomy and choice.
Community Walk
Each morning, the children go on a community walk. Safely in prams and hats, they enjoy the sun, fresh air and smiles from community members on their stroll.
Lunch
Around 11 am, it is time for lunch. The children enjoy their delicious vegetarian meals outdoors, using cutlery and tongs to serve themselves. This promotes independence and teaches them about communal dining.
Sleep Time
After lunch, our children transition to sleep time. In a peaceful environment, the entire room settles down for rest. Our skilled educators ensure that each child feels secure and comfortable as they recharge for the afternoon.
Atelier Visit
After nap time, our children visit our custom art studio where they engage in activities tailored to their current interests. These schematic play experiences are designed by our educators to align with each child’s developmental needs and natural ‘fascinations’.
Afternoon Tea
Outdoor Play
Toddlers enjoy their own dedicated outdoor space and can move freely between here and indoor areas, exploring and playing in a safe environment. Outdoor learning develops different skill sets and fosters curiosity.
Home time
As the day draws to a close, we welcome parents into the studio to engage with our educators to hear all about their child’s day. This connection helps them move comfortably from The Akidamy back to their family settings.
Atelier
Children regularly visit our Atelierista Miss Erin in the art studio to engage in creative activities that encourage curiosity and self-expression.
Projects combine art, science and a treasure trove of materials to excite all the senses.
Italian Lessons
Ms Magarita is our guide to all things Italy! As our language specialist, her lessons teach little ones new words and phrases, enriching their language development.
Language learning is supported by using these phrases throughout the day with the whole team.
Yoga & Mindfulness
Children are invited to join in yoga and mindfulness sessions. These sessions promote physical wellness and emotional balance.
Core strength and flexibility are just some of the benefits of daily practice.
Occupational Therapy
Each week, an Occupational Therapist from Baby Steps Health Centre joins us to guide children through a school readiness program.
These sessions focus on developing their physical and cognitive skills, helping them gain confidence and prepare for the next exciting step in their learning.
Park Visits & Community Walks
All children enjoy regular visits to the local park and walks around our wider community, where they can explore nature and engage in active play.
Fresh air, a change of scenery and interaction with the community all provide social and emotional growth.
O-Soji
We are inspired by the O-Soji practices of Japan where children are encouraged to respect and clean their space by helping tidy up.
These methods encouage teamwork and responsibility both at School and home.
Our Early Learning Specialists
“I love working with children watching them grow and develop into amazing people. As part of the team I have a great network where we support and build each other up. The whole team is what makes it such a special place to be as well as the wonderful children and families”
