The Akidamy School of Early Learning

Fremantle

Level 2, 28 Cantonment St, Fremantle WA 6160

(08) 9227 1409

Since 2025, we have been welcoming families into a school that feels unlike anywhere else. Nestled within the iconic Woolstores building on Cantonment Street, our school sits in the heart of this community, with views across the harbour and the Port of Fremantle that remind children, every day, of the world they belong to.

What tends to surprise families most when they first arrive is the sense of space. Three age-specific outdoor play areas open up beyond the building in a way nobody quite expects. Each one faces the Port of Fremantle and the Heritage Precinct, giving children a genuine connection to the place they live. These are not token outdoor areas. They are rich, nature-filled environments where children build with loose parts, navigate varied terrains, find quiet nooks to think and rest, and move their bodies in the way children are meant to. The kind of outdoor childhood that families hope for, right here on Level 2 of the Woolstores.

Inside, two dedicated Atelier art studios offer children a place to create with intention. A yoga and music room, La Cucina our open kitchen where the smells of fresh cooking drift through the day, and seven intimate studios spanning every age from three months to five years. Each space has been thoughtfully considered so that children feel settled, known, and genuinely unhurried.

Arriving and leaving is easy too. Dedicated drop-off parking bays on Level 1 sit directly beside the school elevator, so your morning begins gently rather than in a rush

We warmly invite you to explore our studios below, or to come and visit with your child. This is a place that is best understood by simply being in it – book your tour.

Why The Akidamy Fremantle

We understand that you are looking for more than just childcare...

Choosing the right environment for your child’s early years is a significant decision. At The Akidamy we are fundamentally different from traditional childcare centres. We are an early learning school, dedicated to providing an unparalleled educational foundation that fosters a genuine love for learning.

Catering for children aged 3 months to 5 years, the Fremantle school has been crafted with your child’s needs in mind, with secure, custom-designed spaces that encourage creativity and learning.

Our team of highly qualified, dedicated and passionate full time staff embed the Reggio Emilia approach to education into every aspect of your child’s day at The Akidamy.

Our staffing structure ensures that children benefit from seeing the same face each day, and every child sees familiar staff members, supporting their comfort and development. Our program also includes Italian lessons as part of our comprehensive educational offering.

The Akidamy Fremantle Founder's Special

As we grow our Fremantle community, we are offering a Founder's Special fee arrangement for families who enrol during this period. We want those who choose us early to feel truly valued from their very first day. Speak to our team when you book your tour to find out more.

Our Studios and Learning Spaces

Nursery Studio

Ages 3 - 18 months

Our nursery provides a warm and respectful environment for your baby. Featuring a thoughtfully designed outdoor area, the nursery supports your child’s sensory development and growth with a gentle touch.

The nursery caters to two distinct age groups. Nursery 1 Studio for children aged 3 to 12 months: this space has been custom-designed to ensure that little ones are safe and secure. The Nursery 2 Studio caters to children aged 12 to 18 months, fostering their growth and mobility. Both studios have small-sized sleep rooms to allow for better children supervision and rest.

Nursery studios also have their own designed playspace specifically tailored to encourage children’s development and exploration.

Ages 18 Months to 2.5 Years

In this space, toddlers are encouraged to explore and engage in activities that stimulate their minds and bodies. Our Fremantle Toddler space is designed to guide, support, and encourage your child’s growing independence and curiosity with ample opportunities for discovery.

This age group has access to their own dedicated playspace with views across the Port of Fremantle and the beautiful sea beyond.

Ages 2.5 to 3.5 Years

Our Fremantle Kindergarten 3 space (pre-kindy programme) nurtures the blossoming verbal skills and sense of agency in children aged 2.5 to 3.5 years. Your child will benefit from collaborative learning and the mentorship of older peers, gaining confidence, skills, and knowledge.

With two studios that can accommodate up to 20 children each, the Kindergarten 3 Studio is specifically designed for small-group learning environments. It also offers access to its own Atelier and play-based playspaces.

Ages 3.5 to 5 Years

In our Kindergarten 4 area, children aged 3.5 to 5 years are guided to become independent, sociable and resilient young people. Your child will be encouraged to articulate their unique ideas, explore their world – and understand their own value and importance within it.

Two Atelier studios are available at Fremantle, one of which is sized for Kindergarteners and the other for Nursery and Toddlers aged children.

Our art studio invites children to build, craft, and create. With guidance from art specialists, they can explore painting, clay work, and other mediums, nurturing their artistic expression and fine motor skills.

Shared across the school, our yoga and music room invites children to explore music, movement, and language. With resources for rhythm, movement, dance, and singing, your child will be supported to develop their creative expression and build important skills.

La Cucina (Italian for ‘kitchen’), is a welcoming space where children can watch, and sometimes take part in, the preparation of their meals. The delicious smells and visible cooking process create a warm, comfortable atmosphere that connects families and children.

The school is committed to providing nutritious and delicious vegetarian meals for every child, with our on-site chef in an open-facing kitchen delivering the highest quality of meals.

Our outdoor spaces are one of the things that surprises families most when they first visit. Genuinely expansive, and far beyond what most expect from a school on Level 2 of the Woolstores building.

Three age-specific play areas each face the Port of Fremantle and the Heritage Precinct, giving children a remarkable sense of place and connection to their community. Each playspace is thoughtfully designed in the spirit of our Reggio Emilia, RIE, and Pikler philosophies, integrating natural materials, loose parts for imaginative construction, varied terrains for gross motor development, and quiet nooks for reflection. The outdoor environment is not a break from learning here. It is where some of the richest learning happens.

Good news! We have immediate availability at our Fremantle school.
